Mediterranea Belfiore is a family-owned canned food company, born in 1952 with the cultivation of tomatoes in the family farm, located in Cecina, in the province of Livorno.
When agriculture was abandoned by many farmers for the low income it offered, Mediterranea Belfiore flanked a small liqueur factory to this activity; This allowed him to make a commercial experience that became useful when, in 1974, he decided to create a laboratory for preparing tomato preserves using strictly homemade methods.
In 1989 the conversion to organic tomato processing began, which became totally organic in 1996.
The qualitative selection of tomatoes begins in the same cultivation fields, choosing the best cultivated land, the best exposure to the sun and the best varieties. The companies from which tomatoes come are also selected according to their latitude so as to ensure a constant flow of tomatoes with the same degree of ripening.
